Wandering from Indiana

I am waiting for those giants
That reach their bodies for the clouds
Rock and earth too stubborn to lay low
My legs wiggle in my seat
Gaze glued to the window
Searching the distant horizon
It takes the sun a lap across the sky
anticipation holds my seeking eyes
The golden land around me reaching
Rolling, building gently towards
The edges of control
Something inside my head stays
Tethered to the the ground
While inside my throat I feel
A rising tide
That eats up the space between
There is order here
In the blades of wheat
That gently rock in the breeze
Awaiting perfect rebellion
When the dust can burst free
Until the lady vestiges of order
And control give up
their hold over gravity
And explode in riotous release

I am the sky
you are the sun
luminous and warm
sometimes so bright
I have to shut my eyes
sometimes dimmed
by the eclipsing clouds
that hide the light from all
the world
you were the unexpected
dancing your fingers
along my spine

your voice reaching
the chandelier
reverberating off my soul
You and I
are two feral cats
scratching at each other's doors
